Our Story

A Legacy in the Pines

Welcome to Lee Brothers, Inc.—a family farm rooted in the heart of the New Jersey Pine Barrens since 1868. For over 150 years, we’ve cultivated not only cranberries, but also a deep respect for the land, our heritage, and the hard work that sustains both. Explore our story and discover how tradition and innovation grow side by side on our farm. This site is a celebration of our heritage, from the early days in the bogs to the present, where we continue to grow, adapt, and pass down the values that define us. We invite you to explore our family’s journey, honor those who came before, and learn about the land and legacy we’re proud to carry forward.
Lee Brothers Inc. was established in 1860 when Stephen Lee, an Irish immigrant and engineer, acquired approximately 2,000 acres in the New Jersey Pinelands. Discovering that cranberries thrive near streams, Lee had the foresight to build a dam to control the water flow. This allowed him to flood the bogs in winter, dramatically improving yields—a method that proved both innovative and effective. His vision laid the foundation for a thriving agricultural tradition that continues today, with the family cultivating 135 acres of cranberry bogs surrounded by 1,700 acres of forestry. For the Lee family, cranberry farming isn’t just a livelihood—it’s a deeply rooted way of life passed down through generations.
